Power market assessment across 19 countries — the 15 ECOWAS states plus Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad and Mauritania — covering state of access, enabling market environment and trade conditions for renewable energy equipment; quantifying demand and supply for solar lanterns and off-grid solar systems for households, private enterprises and public bodies; assessing financial institutions' capability and willingness to finance off-grid solar companies; and mechanisms to incentivise private sector and financial institution entry, towards a harmonised regional solar market. AESG then refined 19 project proposals from ECOWAS-based solar PV entrepreneurs to financing-ready stage.
