What we collect
This website does not run analytics, does not set cookies for tracking, and has no advertising. We collect personal information only when you choose to send it to us.
One item is stored in your own browser: when you dismiss the notice at the foot of the page, we record that you have seen it, so it is not shown again. It stays on your device, is not a cookie, is never transmitted to us, and identifies nobody. Clearing your browser storage removes it.
- Information you send by email. The enquiry form on this site opens your own email application with a message pre-filled. Nothing is transmitted to us until you send it. When you do, we receive your name, your email address, your organisation and whatever you write.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical information — IP address, browser type, pages requested and the time of the request — for security and diagnostics.
Why we use it, and on what basis
We use enquiry information solely to answer you and, if it leads to work, to manage that relationship. Our lawful basis is your consent in contacting us, and our legitimate interest in responding. Server logs are kept on the basis of legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and available. We do not use your information for marketing unless you ask us to, and we never sell it.
Who else sees it
Your enquiry is read by AESG staff who need to answer it. Email is handled by our hosting provider, which processes it on our behalf. We disclose personal information to no one else, except where we are required to by law.
Where it is held, and for how long
Enquiry correspondence is held on our mail servers, which are located in South Africa. Where an enquiry leads to a contract, related records may be retained for as long as the engagement and any legal or audit obligation requires. Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept no longer than is useful for answering them, and then deleted.
Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, or object to our using it. Write to info@africaesg.com and we will respond within 30 days. Rwanda's Law No. 058/2021 on the protection of personal data and privacy applies to our processing; if you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom when you contact us, the GDPR may also apply, and the same rights are available to you.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, but no transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure.
Other websites
Pages here link to external sites — client publications, partner organisations and public records. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will appear on this page with a new date above.
