Robert has been instrumental in regulatory reforms, renewable energy financing, pricing and tariff models that has attracted private sector investments into an electricity sector previously under state- owned monopolies in South Africa and Kenya. Robert has senior experience in consulting and finance at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in South Africa and the central bank of Canada as well as independent consulting in international development for programs funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, USAID, SIDA, GIZ, World Bank and FCDO.
Robert has also delivered programs focused on funding models and investment facilitation for seed companies, structured trade of staples and inclusive business models in the agriculture sector in Eastern and Southern Africa. Robert has an MBA in Management from McGill University in Canada and is a Certified Public Accountant CPA(K) with Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, CIMA (UK), professional accounting qualification. Robert has been trained in practical energy economic regulation in Canada at the Ontario Energy Board, Alberta Utilities Commission, National Energy Board of Canada, in the USA Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), NARUC, in the UK Ofgem as well as the A-to-Z of economic regulation training by NERA Economic Consulting of Boston.
