AESG, as part of Lot 9 of the project, supported the African Union Commission in designing the African Single Electricity Market policy paper and roadmap. The goal was to foster regional integration and harmonization in the electricity sector across Africa. Key objectives include, conducting an in-depth review, benchmarking, and gap identification for the policy paper, formulating continental proposals and outline a roadmap for the African Single Electricity Market, engaging with key stakeholders and present draft policy papers for validation, and finalize the policy paper and roadmap for AU approval.

 

Achievements of the project include Drafted a comprehensive policy paper and roadmap for the African Single Electricity Market, engaged with various stakeholders, including power pools and regulatory authorities, and Presented draft proposals for validation and feedback, and contributed to the AU’s efforts towards regional energy integration.
