As the country energy expert company for the UN Economic Commission for Africa, AESG conducted a comprehensive regulatory review of the electricity sector in Africa. The focus was on attracting private sector investment by assessing openness, attractiveness, and readiness in the regulatory framework. Key activities include, evaluate energy strategy, market framework, governance, and investment regulation for openness, assess legislation, incentives, tariff structures, and market routes for investor attractiveness, and review technical regulations for efficient electricity infrastructure integration and management.
Achievement of the project include, provided insights into regulatory reforms needed to attract private sector investment in Africa’s electricity sector, analyzed the fairness, competitiveness, and business case for investors in the electricity market, and evaluated technical regulations for effective electricity infrastructure development and operation.
